Student Musicians, Choirs, and Dancers to Headline School Fair During National School Choice Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Jan. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Hundreds of school leaders, educators, students, and parents will enjoy a School Choice Week Fair from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25. The free and family-friendly event will feature refreshments, raffle drawings, recognition of legislators in attendance, and performances from school choirs, jazz bands, and dance troops.

The event will take place at the Space Foundation Headquarters and Discovery Center. Schools in attendance will include public schools, private schools, home-schooled programs, and charter schools. The diverse range of educational choices represented at the fair will allow families the opportunity to learn about all the schools available for their children.

This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.

"Children are 15 percent of our country and 100 percent of our future," said Deborah Hendrix, executive director of Parents Challenge. "Isn't it important to make sure they receive a great education at the school of their parents' choosing? School choice brings about 'healthy' competition, ensuring that schools provide parents with options to support the style of learning, curriculum and instruction that works for their child. Educational choice eliminates the premise that 'one size fits all.' Variety in school options is required to meet the needs of our diverse communities."

Parents Challenge, the organization coordinating the event, is dedicated to helping children escape failing schools by helping parents exercise choice.

As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
