New investment supports innovations to help Canadians live longer, healthier lives

Federal funding helps launch a hub to commercialize preventative health technologies related to aging

SURREY, BC, Jan. 17, 2019 /CNW/ - Seniors are an important part of families, communities and workplaces. They help grow Canada's economy and can share valuable knowledge and experience. As Canada's aging population grows, we face new challenges and opportunities to ensure the continued health and vitality of Canadian seniors.

That is why the Government of Canada is helping foster the well-being of seniors and Canada's future prosperity through a $3.5 million investment in the new the AGE-WELL National Innovation Hub: Digital Health Circle. The funding was announced today by Randeep Sarai, Member of Parliament for Surrey Centre, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Western Economic Diversification Canada

The Digital Health Circle will help bring innovative health technologies to market by sharing resources and addressing industry gaps. They will facilitate networking events, create custom training programs and provide business consultations to target audiences. The hub will also give industry access to state of the art technology, development tools and collaborative workspaces. By helping commercialize preventative health technologies, the Digital Health Circle will help create jobs, reduce healthcare costs and support increased independence and quality of life for Canadian seniors.
