Gallagher's Petula Workman Named to Governing Council of International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., Jan. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (ISCEBS) has named Petula Workman, Division Vice President and Compliance Counsel of the benefits and human resources consulting operation of Gallagher, to its governing council.  Comprised of nine members, the governing council members serve at least three-year terms and guide the finances and policies of this nearly 40-year-old employee benefits society.  ISCEBS serves the unique needs of the diverse benefits community by providing continuing education and networking opportunities at the national and local levels. ISCEBS is a group of employee benefits professionals, all of whom have earned their CEBS designation or are current students.

As Division Vice President and Compliance Counsel of the legislative compliance consulting practice within the benefits and human resources consulting division of Gallagher, Petula is responsible for developing compliance resources and tools and educating clients on how to interpret and address complex legislative requirements affecting employee benefits. Petula's broad experience in legislative and regulatory matters includes expertise in PPACA, HIPAA, including privacy and security, and day-to-day compliance issues.

Since earning her CEBS designation in 2011, Petula has been recognized as an ISCEBS Fellow and is a frequent speaker at the ISCEBS Symposium. She has contributed to the Symposium Education and Professional Development Committees in the capacity as chairperson for both.  Previously, she also served in several capacities for the Houston Chapter, including as president and education chair.  She earned a B.A. degree from the University of Texas in Austin and a juris doctor degree from the University of Houston Law Center.
