Declaration of the Board of the National Organizing Committee of the Games of La Francophonie

MONCTON, NB, Dec. 13, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - We, the six remaining members of the Board of the National Organizing Committee of the Games of La Francophonie 2021 are pleased with the release of the report from accounting-experts hired by the Federal government that confirms the in-depth and rigorous work of the organizing committee.

We strongly believe in the Games of La Francophonie and would like to reiterate our total confidence and trust in the current team and for the rigorous work that was done to develop our business plan. It is important to reiterate this business plan was put together as an initial discussion tool to frame the financial conversation with our funding partners.

We are aware of the financial and economic challenges the province is facing. We have always been, and are still open to evaluate different options and efficiencies in order to have the Games that are aligned with the expectations and capacities of the funding partners and leaving a legacy for the community.

We continue to encourage our funding partners to negotiate and to identify the best solutions as quickly as possible. The Board is confident we can find a solution for the Games to be successful.

The Games are an exceptional opportunity for the community during the 10 days in which the province and the region will be under the world's spotlight. The previous Francophonie Games have generated important economic benefits, as well as legacy in terms of infrastructure, culture, and ability to manage major events.
