RCMP in the NCR "Cram the Cruiser" event: Let's share the joy of giving

OTTAWA, Dec. 12, 2018 /CNW/ - RCMP members in the National Capital Region are inviting members of the public to join them on Saturday, December 15, to "Cram the Cruiser". Mounties will be collecting toys for Toy Mountain and non-perishable food items for the Ottawa Food Bank.

Items can be dropped off from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the parking lot at the Orleans Walmart, 3900 Innes Road. Bring a new, unwrapped toy and help the RCMP "Cram the Cruiser"!

This community event promises to be a festive one. On site:

In its second year in the NCR, "Cram the Cruiser" is also an effort to bring toys to the children at the CHEO who cannot be home for Christmas. This year, due to the fact that some children cannot be exposed to any viruses, in lieu of distributing toys in person, the RCMP National Division employees raised funds to donate televisions and game stations for the hospital's clean room where children can go play. The media are welcome to this event for photo opportunity. For those who wish to have an interview, please note that the RCMP spokesperson representing the organizing team will be available between 11:00 a.m. and noon. The Mounties will be delivering the toys to Toy Mountain in the Place d'Orleans shopping centre around 3:45 p.m.

"The safety of our communities is a goal we strive for every day," said Corporal Eric Laperrière of the RCMP's General Duty Protective Policing. "As police officers, we also truly have at heart the well-being of our community. The "Cram the Cruiser" event allows us to share the joy of giving and brighten the holiday season for needy children in our community."
