Petco Products Not affected by 'Vitamin D' Pet Food Recall; Offering Free Trade-In for Pet Parents with Affected Product

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- In light of Monday's FDA alert on multiple dry dog food recalls due to elevated and potentially toxic levels of vitamin D, we can confirm that Petco does not carry any of the brands listed in the current recall; no Petco products are affected.

Petco (PRNewsFoto/Petco)

We are monitoring and reviewing the recall closely with our vendor partners, our veterinary staff and third-party veterinary nutrition experts; and we will always share what we know with our customers.

Petco recommends the following immediate actions for concerned pet parents:

Petco has been committed to ensuring the health and well-being of pets for more than 50 years. As part of that commitment, we recently announced our decision to not sell dog and cat foods and treats with artificial colors, flavors and preservatives by May of 2019. The decision makes Petco the first and only national retailer of pet food to take a stand against such ingredients.

With a firm belief that better nutrition yields healthier pets, Petco offers a diverse portfolio of high-quality dog and cat food brands that meet or exceed our industry-leading ingredient and manufacturing standards. We continually evaluate our assortment to ensure we're providing the best quality products to our customers and their pets.
