OrigiNation Presents: Tafuta! A Young Child's Search for the True Meaning of Kwanzaa
BOSTON, Dec. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Written and directed by OrigiNation Founding Artistic Director and celebrated choreographer, Shaumba Yandje Dibinga, Tafuta! blends music, dance and poetry to tell the story of a young child who is bullied in school because of her family's tradition of celebrating Kwanzaa. The child ultimately embraces her heritage, discovers her own voice and self-empowerment and draws on the strength found in this African American tradition to triumph over the bullies. Tafuta is the only play of its kind and is surely going to make audiences understand the importance of family and traditions. The cast includes children ages 7-16 from all over Massachusetts including students from private, public and charter schools, Boston's most talented adults and members of OrigiNation's Professional Dance Division.

Founded in 1994, OrigiNation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit performing arts program that utilizes dance as a vehicle to develop leadership, confidence and self-sufficiency among boys and girls ages 3-18 from underserved communities with limited access to quality dance and theater programs is limited. OrigiNation serves over 300 boys and girls annually through its on-site programs. It serves an additional 5,000 youth through its domestic and international outreach, education and touring programs.
