ACADIA FIRST NATION, MI'KMAQ TERRITORY, NS, Nov. 30, 2018 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada is committed to supporting the economic growth of First Nations communities through investments that create jobs and promote prosperity.
Today, Colin Fraser, Member of Parliament for West Nova, joined Chief Deborah Robinson and members of Acadia First Nation to celebrate the completion of their Winner's World gas bar expansion. He participated in the event on behalf of the Honourable Jane Philpott, Minister of Indigenous Services.
The expanded Winner's World gas bar, located on Acadia First Nation Yarmouth Reserve, will provide petroleum sales, a convenience retail outlet, and licensed gaming operations. This newly expanded site will also offer improved exposure for drivers going in and out of Yarmouth, which will increase revenues and provide additional employment opportunities for community members.
Indigenous Services Canada provided $1 million for this project through the Community Opportunities Readiness Program.
