SAN FRANCISCO and SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Women's March Bay Area (WMBA) will be participating in this year's #GivingTuesday! As an all volunteer-run 501c3, the organization relies on community support to create the safe and inspiring events for which it is known. Those hoping to support efforts can donate here: https://womensmarchbayarea.org/donate/.
Since the historic Women's March on January 21, 2017, where hundreds of thousands of folks showed up across the Bay Area, Women's March Bay Area (WMBA) has been working to turn a moment into a movement, returning in January 2018 and hosting or supporting dozens of other activations since its inception. Another Women's March is scheduled for January 19, 2019 centered on the themes #TruthtoPower and #WomensWave.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year's #GivingTuesday will take place on November 27th and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.
Women's March is a woman-led movement providing intersectional education on a range of issues and creating entry points for new grassroots activists and organizers to engage with/in their local communities through trainings, outreach programs and events. The focus on voter education, voter outreach, and voter empowerment encompassed in the 2018 actions' theme, "Hear Our Vote!" was followed by record-breaking turnout in the midterms and the work is only beginning.
