Hunt Regional Medical Center Improving Patient Experience with Allen's Interactive Patient Engagement Solution

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Patients at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Texas can now access industry leading interactive features on their patient-room televisions, thanks to the hospital's launch this month of Allen Technologies' E3 Patient Engagement Solution.

Allen Technologies, the pioneer of interactive patient engagement solutions for 40 years, transforms the way hospitals engage, educate and empower patients. Allen helps hospitals impact patient outcomes, improve patient satisfaction and achieve operational efficiencies. Allen's multi-platform interactive patient engagement system, delivered via television, tablet and bedside monitor, is a robust patient-centric portal for customized patient education, in-room comfort control, and entertainment.

Allen, the leader in interactive patient engagement solutions for 40 years, announced today that Hunt Regional Medical Center is activating Allen's E3 Solution across all 177 hospital patient rooms. The full deployment comes on the heels of an initial implementation in one-fifth of the hospital, which garnered overwhelmingly positive feedback from nurses and patients.

"Our initial implementation at Hunt Regional was a huge hit with both nurses and patients," said Mark Lancaster, Allen Technologies CEO. "We are excited to now help them take patient engagement to the next level across its entire campus. Hunt is joining a growing roster of client hospitals that see the value in transforming what was a traditional piece of equipment ? the TV ? into a truly game-changing tool in the quest for a better hospital experience and better patient health."

Hunt Regional is the primary hospital in the Hunt Regional Healthcare System, which serves patients across northeast Texas through additional locations in Commerce, Emory, Rockwall, Royse City and Quinlan.

Allen's interactive solution, deployed on Samsung smart televisions, helps educate, engage and empower patients in their care. Patients can access information about their health condition and care, an array of hospital services, relaxation videos and entertainment options through the Allen portal. Patients are first greeted to the interactive system through a start-up screen on their TV, which directs them to all the features available to them.

"The user interface makes it very easy for our patients to use the system, whether they are requesting a guest meal, want their room cleaned, or need other services," said Rich Carter, Hunt Regional's CEO. "The system automates the routing of those non-clinical requests so that the right department can respond quickly to patient needs, and our nursing staff can stay focused on clinical care."

When fully implemented, Allen's integration with Hunt Regional's electronic medical record platform lets nursing staff assign education videos to patients based on their specific diagnoses. When the patient completes an education video, the action will be automatically documented in the patient's electronic medical record.

"We know that improving patient education and engagement leads to better health outcomes," said Carter. "By integrating Allen Technologies' Interactive Patient System into our care protocol, we are taking innovative steps to not only impact patient outcomes, but to also improve patient satisfaction and achieve operational efficiencies ? all key indicators of quality health care."
