American Corporate Partners Launches Mentoring Initiative for Active Duty Military Spouses with Support from Johnson & Johnson and PepsiCo


NEW YORK, Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- American Corporate Partners (ACP), founded in 2008, is a national nonprofit organization offering career counseling, mentoring and networking opportunities to post 9/11 transitioning service members. ACP's program has a proven track record, having assisted more than 13,000 veterans with their transition to private sector careers. More than 3,000 veterans are currently being mentored across the nation. Ninety-eight percent of veterans who have participated in ACP's mentoring program would recommend ACP to a fellow veteran. ACP's distinguished Advisory Council includes General (Ret.) David H. Petraeus, Jon Stewart, and Karl Rove.

Today, ACP is announcing the launch of an Active Duty Military Spouse Mentoring Program. ACP's new program will offer personalized, one-on-one yearlong mentorships for the spouses of active duty servicemembers to receive career guidance from top business professionals and entrepreneurs nationwide.

"We're thrilled to be moving forward with this initiative with the generous support of Johnson & Johnson and PepsiCo," said Colleen Deere, ACP's Executive Director and Army veteran spouse. "Active duty spouses face a unique set of employment challenges, and we aim to help them find and advance in meaningful careers."

There are more than 600,000 spouses of active duty servicemembers. On average, military families move seven times more often than civilian families. Seventy percent of active duty spouses report that their education or work experience is not being fully utilized in their current job. ACP's new program is designed to assist active duty military spouses build long-term careers and find meaningful employment. Active duty military spouses will be paired with private sector Mentors to discuss topics ranging from building résumés, translating skills, networking, work-life balance, and building small businesses.

Georgeann McRaven, wife of retired Admiral William McRaven, is assisting ACP in building the program, which expects to mentor 1,500 spouses over the next two years. As a military spouse for 36 years, Georgeann is committed to supporting our nation's military families. "Military spouses are our nation's invisible heroes," Georgeann said. "ACP is a well-established resource for servicemembers, and I'm delighted to see the program open up to active duty military spouses."

ACP is also working with the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army's Soldier for Life program, as well as Blue Star Families and Ellevate Network.
