Bates Creative Hosts Third Annual Merry Mail Social

SILVER SPRING, Md., Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Bates Creative will host its third annual Merry Mail Social at the agency's new studio at 8505 Fenton Street in Silver Spring, MD, on November 28th. The Merry Mail Social represents Bates Creative's communal and creative roots through crafting one-of-a-kind holiday cards that spread joy to our military (Operation Gratitude), children (Cards for Hospitalized Kids), and the elderly (Sunrise Senior Living). Nearly 175 members of the DC community have joined together to handcraft holiday cards with Bates Creative since its first event in 2016.

Operation Gratitude, founded in 2003, is a non-profit that delivers over 300,000 donated care packages to troops, first responders, veterans, new recruit graduates, wounded servicemen and caregivers, and military families every year. "Every donation we receive furthers our mission of saying 'Thank You' to those who serve. The recipients of your generosity will remember your kindness forever," says Carolyn Blashek, President of Operation Gratitude.

Cards for Hospitalized Kids (CFHK), a charitable organization founded in 2011, sends handmade cards to hospitalized children across America. Volunteers make cards for various occasions that are distributed to hospitals and the Ronald McDonald Houses in the United States. "Hospitalized kids often feel scared, lonely, isolated, and different. Receiving a card helps brighten their day, makes them feel special and shows they aren't forgotten," Jen Rubino, Founder and Executive Director of CFHK.

Sunrise Senior Living opened its doors in 1981 as a resident-centered environment and evolved into a living community for nearly 30,000 residents. Elizabeth H. Glazer, Activities and Volunteer Coordinator at Sunrise Senior Living writes, "Thanks for thinking of us and bringing holiday cheer to my residents! They are really enjoying the beautiful cards!"

The American Marketing Association, Baltimore Chapter awarded the Merry Mail Social its 2018 Marketing Excellence Award for best Event Marketing Campaign, acknowledging its success for the delivery of nearly 200 cards to the organizations the event supports. This year, the Merry Mail Social's growing list of sponsors welcome Atlas Brew Works, CREATE Arts Center, Eastward, Gusto Farm to Street, The Highwood Theater, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Photogroup Inc., Rock Creek Sports Club, and Strathmore.
