$3 Million Donation From Peter Mallouk to Help Send Hundreds of Students to Kansas Colleges

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The nonprofit Give Something Back (Give Back) announced the recent launch of the Kansas Give Back program, funded by Peter and Veronica Mallouk. Their generous contribution will continue Give Back's mentoring and college scholarship program throughout Kansas. The Mallouk Give Back Scholarship Program welcomed 50 Give Back scholars this fall, ten in college and 40 in high school, with plans to support hundreds of students with full college scholarships including tuition, room and board in future years.

Peter Mallouk, president and chief investment officer of Kansas-based wealth management firm Creative Planning, and wife Veronica have donated more than $3 million to Give Back.

"Education opens so many doors and can level the playing field," said Mallouk. "We're trying to impact that change and pioneer a new model of opportunity for students overcoming compelling circumstances in Kansas and throughout the world."

Since its founding in 2003, Give Back has invested more than $36 million in scholarship programs across seven states. Give Back scholars receive a full scholarship that covers tuition, fees, room and board, helping them graduate with little or no debt. The program identifies prospective scholar candidates early in their high-school careers and provides a mentorship program through financial-aid workshops, test-preparation classes, coordinated campus visits and a dedicated community mentor. Veronica and Peter Mallouk serve as Give Back mentors in Kansas and are recruiting additional mentors for the program.

"The impact Veronica and Peter Mallouk will make in the lives of Kansas students, many who are living below the poverty line today, is absolutely tremendous," said Bob Tucker, deputy director of Give Back. "We are grateful for their continued pledge of support to Give Back and excited to welcome the first of hundreds of Mallouk Give Back scholars to college campuses."

An avid supporter of charitable causes providing better opportunities to Kansas youth, Mallouk often cites his own studies at the University of Kansas as the root of his success in leading Creative Planning. Today, Creative Planning is one of the largest independent wealth management firms in the country, and Mallouk is the only advisor to be named the "No. 1 independent financial advisor in America" by Barron's three consecutive years (2013, 2014, 2015). Peter and Veronica also cofounded the nonprofit KC CAN!, uniting volunteers to improve the lives of underprivileged children in the greater Kansas City area.
