WHAT:
On November 15, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights will hold a press call on the release of "Police Use of Force: An Examination of Modern Policing Practices." The Commission investigated whether the rates and usage of excessive force by police violate the civil rights of persons of color, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQ communities. The Commission also evaluated proven or promising policies and practices that may help minimize unnecessary use of force and the perception and reality of unconscious discrimination in police use of force. The report, based on expert and public input, and extensive research and analysis, offers actionable recommendations to the President, Congress, federal agencies, state and local governments, police departments, and other policy/decision makers.
The report will be available on our website on the day of the press call.
