Acclivity Health Solutions Enters into an Exclusive Agreement with Duke University-based, Prepped Health, LLC

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Nov. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Acclivity Health Solutions, a trusted healthcare technology innovator, who is transforming the way care is provided to patients facing advanced illness, today announced the acquisition of assets from Duke University-based Prepped Health LLC, a world-class innovation and clinical research entity. Acclivity and the team from Prepped Health will be showcasing the enhanced Connected Care Platform at the upcoming Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) conference in Orlando, FL Nov.5-8

To date, Prepped Health has developed researched-based technology platforms that help educate patients and families on ways to better define their choices and manage outcomes while coping with serious illness.

The acquisition will enhance Acclivity's mission of transforming fragmented advanced illness care to a connected, collaborative, community-based care model. For the past 6 years, Prepped Health's team of renowned physicians, clinicians, and technologists have worked closely with patients undergoing treatment for cancer, heart disease, neurological disorders, and other serious illnesses. Following the acquisition, Prepped Health's founders will assume leadership roles at Acclivity Health Solutions, Dr. Arif Kamal as Chief Medical Officer, and Jon Nicolla as Chief Product Officer.

"With the acquisition of Prepped Health, Acclivity Health Solutions will be able to expand our offerings to include extraordinary research, education and clinical content designed to help patients and their loved ones manage their care journey," said Jeremy Powell, CEO of Acclivity Health Solutions. "Together, we immediately expand our platform capabilities and offer situationally-aware support to patients and families suffering from life-limiting illnesses."

The Prepped Health assets will drive further value for Acclivity's Connected Care platform. The proprietary, cloud -based platform utilizes AI and Machine Learning, and leverages workflow enhancements to automate engagement for patients becoming frail or facing diminished life quality. "We had a number of opportunities offered to us related to the Prepped Health assets, but the partnership with Acclivity made for the most complete and compelling vehicle for scale," said Dr. Kamal. "This combination of personnel, know-how, and platform capabilities within a single team, creates a unique offering that will bring an innovation to all stakeholders managing the care of our most vulnerable patients."

Dr. Kamal, alongside J. Brian Cassel, PHD, from VCU Massey Cancer Center, will be addressing the audience at the upcoming Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) conference on the topic of "Program Measurement and Demonstrating Value: Strategies for the Community-Based Program".
