Holocaust Survivors' Foundation USA Statement On Murders Of 11 Jewish Worshipers In Pittsburgh

MIAMI, Nov. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- We are heartbroken and grief-stricken for the victims of the Tree of Life massacre, and stand in solidarity with their families and the Pittsburgh Jewish community.  We send our deepest condolences to all affected by this tragedy, including the four first responders who came to their rescue. We send prayers of healing and for a full recovery -- refuach shelayma ? to all.

As Holocaust survivors, we are profoundly saddened and outraged by the heinous murder of Jewish worshipers.  It is almost impossible to believe that we would once again be witnesses to the murder of innocent human beings solely because they are Jewish ? and that such a crime would be committed nearly eight (8) decades after the Holocaust, and in the United States of America.

We know from bitter personal experience that an assault on human dignity spawned by hate and anti-Semitism carries the very real seeds of human disaster that devastated Squirrel Hill in Pittsburgh on Saturday, and shattered the increasingly precarious sense of security of Jewish communities throughout this country.

We appeal to everyone in our nation to respect each other as human beings, no matter our political differences, and make a solemn promise to reject hatred and intolerance for the sake of each other,  our families, and future generations.
