The Collegiate Churches of New York Announce New CEO, Daniel J. Lehman

NEW YORK, Oct. 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Collegiate Churches of New York today announced the appointment of Dan Lehman, a seasoned executive with experience in the government and non-profit sectors, as chief executive officer.  Lehman succeeds former executive vice president and chief operating officer, Casey Kemper, who is retiring after 21 years of service.

"We are grateful to Casey for his 21 years of dedicated leadership, and wish him the best in his retirement," said Jeffry Mummert, chairman, The Collegiate Churches of New York. "This transition is happening at a significant point in our history. As a nearly 400-year old organization, we must continually evolve to best serve the needs of our ministries and communities. Dan's government and non-profit experience, along with his mission critical thinking, will be crucial as we plan for our successful future."

Lehman will serve as interim CEO and will be responsible for high-level strategy and planning, corporate governance and overall management and administration of the Collegiate organization.

Lehman joins Collegiate following seven years with Children's Aid New York, where he served first as chief financial officer and then chief operating officer. Prior to Children's Aid, Lehman held executive positions at the New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene and the New York City Human Resources Administration. He brings a deep commitment to improving the lives of New Yorkers, combined with a broad range of executive and managerial skills.

"I truly believe that we are at a great moment in Collegiate's history ? one with vast opportunities," said Lehman. "Collegiate's voice needs to be heard locally, nationally and even internationally, and its mission has never been so timely or so important. I'm thrilled to be part of the team at Collegiate, ensuring that we have the focus, structure, tools and resources needed for sustainable success in the years to come."

Lehman holds a BA in Economics and East Asian studies from Harvard University, and an MBA in Finance & Operations, from New York University Stern School of Business.  Originally from Massachusetts, he now resides in Brooklyn with his wife and two children.

About The Collegiate Churches of New York

Established in 1628, The Collegiate Churches of New York has old, deep roots in a great city, yet we've embraced a thoroughly modern perspective on spirituality and community in a greater world. Founded in the tradition of Reformed Protestantism, we respond to the spiritual needs of people today by embracing diversity, affirmation, openness and justice.

We are a single historic church with five city-wide ministries ? four churches and one outreach ministry called Intersections International. Each is unique in approach and character, but unified in our core values of inclusion, self-exploration and positive thinking. As a spiritual community we encourage people to search, discover and flourish.
