Statement by Minister Rodriguez on the Occasion of Dussehra
Today is a day of celebration for Hindu communities in Canada and around the world
OTTAWA, Oct. 19, 2018 /CNW/ - Today, Hindu communities in Canada, South Asia and around the world celebrate Dussehra. This great annual festival is especially important in Hindu culture, as it symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
Celebrated in various ways around the globe, this joyful and hopeful holiday brings parents and friends together to decorate their homes and enjoy songs, prayers, fireworks and treats. It is a vibrant reflection of the dynamism and vitality of Hindu communities.
Dussehra is a great opportunity for all Canadians to reaffirm our gratitude for the many communities that enrich our lives and contribute to Canada's prosperity and growth. In this year of the 30th anniversary of the Canadian Multiculturalism Act, let us be proud of the rich diversity of our country, a diversity that unites us and makes us strong.
