Healthy Paws Foundation funds third Rescue Race

$20,000 Grant Recipient: K9 Lifesavers

With the highest number of votes, K9 Lifesavers took home the largest grant of $20,000! They are a volunteer, non-profit rescue, dedicated to saving the lives of homeless and abandoned dogs from high-kill shelters and high-risk situations in Alabama, Georgia, West Virginia, the Carolinas, Tennessee and Kentucky.

"This win of $20,000 came just in time! We have only one van for transport and it was literally on its last leg," says Shannon Buck, Fundraising Coordinator at K9 Lifesavers. "We use this van to pick up dogs from our partner shelters, take them to vet appointments as well as adoption events. We were able to use the award money from the Rescue Race to purchase a brand-new van! We will now be able to continue our mission to save these dogs and find them happy homes." Please visit K9 Lifesavers website to learn more about their life-saving work.

$15,000 Grant Recipient: Woof Gang Rescue

Woof Gang Rescue is a no-kill, volunteer-run rescue organization serving Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky and Indiana. Their focus is predominantly on dogs at risk for euthanasia, owner surrenders, and those in danger of abuse or neglect. The $15,000 Healthy Paws grant will assist in vetting incoming dogs and help with urgent medical needs.  "We first want to give back to our friends at the "Live Like Roo" (organization) for the help they have given us," says Jodie Hoffmann-Ruffalo, Executive Director of Woof Gang Rescue.  "The remainder of the grant will go into dog care as needed. We've been taking in many dogs with parvo from the shelters. It's fatal without medical attention, so we want to be there for them!" Please visit Woof Gang Rescue's site to learn more about their life-saving work.

Our final four runners-up include the following: Greyhound Friends of New Jersey ($12,500), Pacific Pug ($10,000), Arizona Cattle Dog Rescue ($7,500), and Saving Grace ($5,000). Find out more about them on our Rescue Race page.

The funding for this grant program is made possible through the Healthy Paws Every Quote Gives Hope program, where every free quote for pet insurance results in a donation to help homeless pets. "By helping these shelters and nonprofit organizations, we are fulfilling our commitment to the Healthy Paws Foundation mission," says co-founder Rob Jackson. "It's been heartwarming and rewarding for us to be able to award these grants, and we hope to help even more homeless pets in the future."
