HTC's Viveport Announces 100% Net Revenue Share For Viveport Subscription Titles In Q4


SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Viveport, HTC VIVE's global app store and subscription service, marks its two-year anniversary by waiving its portion of revenue on titles sold this holiday season for the second year in a row. From October through the end of the year, developers will earn 100% net revenue share for all titles in Viveport Subscription. During its second year, Viveport's continued support of the developer community resulted in an increased content library, subscriber base and customer spending.

"Investing in the developer community at this time is paramount to the industry's growth and we want to thank the developers who have contributed to the success of Viveport Subscription by giving them 100% of revenue during the busiest quarter of the year."

Viveport's Second Year
In its second year, Viveport continued to forge new avenues for developers to monetize their content while increasing benefits and options for consumers. Viveport introduced new markets and potential customers to developers this year with new initiatives such Oculus Rift compatibility and a partnership with Amazon. The newly announced Oculus Rift compatibility has effectively doubled developer potential audience reach while introducing Rift owners to the benefits of Viveport Subscription. In addition, with Amazon now selling Viveport apps, developers can capture new prospective customers on one of the world's largest ecommerce sites as they purchase compatible hardware.

In addition, in October, Viveport gift cards will launch, starting in thousands of GameStop, Frys, Microcenter and other retail stores across the USA and Europe. This new approach to purchasing content on Viveport comes right in time for the holidays, ensuring family and friends can give the gift of VR content on Viveport.

Viveport, today, also announced the new video series, "Viveport Developer Stories" giving an in-depth look into the winners of the 2018 Viveport Developer Awards. This developer focused video series will launch on HTC VIVE and Viveport owned social channels.

These updates, in parallel with improvements to its platform, have made Viveport's second year its most successful yet. In the last year, Viveport's global content library grew 4x while Viveport's subscriber base and customer spending increased 5x. Today, Viveport boasts a curated library of over 1,500 titles globally with 500 in its subscription service. For a low monthly price, Viveport Subscribers can choose five premium titles, such as The Gallery ? Episode 2: Heart of the Emberstone, saving them hundreds of dollars and helping them discover great new content. Now customers get a free 2-month Viveport Subscription bundle with the purchase the new Vive Wireless Adaptor.

Consumers can also join in on the celebration of Viveport's two-year anniversary with a new promotional bundle. Purchases of three, six and 12-month Subscription bundles will come with a free copy of SUPERHOT VR from 8pm PT on September 27th through September 30th. Consumers who buy a three-month Subscription package will also get a 50% discount in addition to their free copy of SUPERHOT VR during this promotional period.
