AFGE Endorses California's Katie Hill for Congress

WASHINGTON, Sept. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Federation of Government Employees today announced its endorsement of Katie Hill for election this November to the U.S. House representing California's 25th District.

The American Federation of Government Employees -- the largest union representing federal employees nationwide -- has endorsed Katie Hill for election this November to the U.S. House representing California's 25th District.

"Katie Hill is running for Congress to continue her family's proud legacy of public service ? her parents were a nurse and police officer, and both her grandfathers served in the military," American Federation of Government Employees District 12 National Vice President George McCubbin III said.

"Even though this is Katie's first time running for higher office, she has already made an impact in Los Angeles and throughout California running the state's largest non-profit provider of homes for the homeless ? many of them veterans," McCubbin said.

"Katie values and supports the critical work that federal employees perform across this country every day, and as a member of Congress she will fight efforts to privatize federal jobs and slash funding for federal programs that taxpayers expect and deserve," he said.

Nearly 143,000 federal civilian employees live in California ? caring for veterans, supporting the military, guarding our borders, and getting Social Security recipients their benefits accurately and on time. There are more than 89,000 active and retired federal employees in the 25th Congressional District.

"The AFGE represents more than 700,000 hardworking government employees who keep this country running," Hill said. "I am proud to stand with working families and honored to have AFGE's support."

AFGE is the largest federal employee union in the country, representing 700,000 federal and D.C. government workers in all functions of government. District 12 represents nearly 80,000 employees in Arizona, California, Hawaii, and Nevada.

The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is the largest federal employee union, representing 700,000 workers in the federal government and the government of the District of Columbia.
