Jibestream First Indoor Mapping Platform to Export CAD-friendly Maps

TORONTO, July 05, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Jibestream, the premier indoor mapping platform provider, announced today the addition of another industry-first feature that allows users to convert and extract indoor maps in a CAD-friendly format. The company's new map format exchange utility will help clients to create and manage CAD-friendly maps of their buildings that are uniform enterprise-wide.

Jibestream's map format exchange utility will significantly benefit the many organizations that don't have CAD files of their buildings, those that struggle with maintaining access to the latest CAD files, or those who need to standardize CAD files. Map digitization is a key foundational element to making the indoor world addressable, however most systems that allow users to make changes to their maps do not allow those changes to be extracted from their editor program.

With this new feature, users can leverage Jibestream's centralized cloud-based content management system (CMS) to make changes to their indoor maps and seamlessly extract these maps, in their most current state, in CAD, SVG or PNG formats. Clients will always have access to the latest CAD files of their buildings which can then be shared as desired.

"We kept seeing a disconnect between the maps living in indoor mapping systems and the CAD files required for enterprise building management," said Xerxes Noble, Principal Software Engineer at Jibestream. "The map exchange utility helps to close this gap by creating a service that brings all maps from our system back into a universally understood format that can be easily opened in software such as AutoCAD, FreeCAD, DraftSight, Adobe Illustrator or any other CAD viewer."

The map format exchange utility is available in the latest version of Jibestream's indoor mapping platform. For additional information about this release, watch the Map Format Exchange Utility video demonstration.
