Bloomberg Law Adds State-Level Privacy Profiles, Providing Professionals Valuable Insights Into State-Based Risks

ARLINGTON, Va., March 21, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bloomberg Law announced an expansion of its privacy and data security resources with the addition of Domestic Privacy Profiles, which parse U.S. state laws and regulations by data type and sector and offer a local practitioner's perspective on the regulatory climate in each state.

Similar to Bloomberg Law's overwhelmingly popular collection of International Privacy Profiles, the new state law collection offers a comprehensive discussion of applicable laws and regulations, regulatory authorities, enforcement actions, legislative proposals, and other emerging concerns. Practicing attorneys from each state provide expert review of the profiles and write exclusive analysis on the unique regulatory climate in each state. There are 21 profiles now available on the platform, with more being added regularly. To view a sample, download the Florida Profile here: http://on.bna.com/RMFC30j41yp.

The Domestic Privacy Profiles take a deep dive into each state's data protection and management provisions. A uniform table of contents across all profiles facilitates state-by-state comparisons. And, as with all enhancements to content and functionality on Bloomberg Law, this collection is available at no additional cost to subscribers.

"As states continue to address and regulate this multifaceted and quickly evolving field of law, it's critical for privacy professionals and corporate counsel to have access to a clear, easily comparable survey of state laws," said Alex Butler, Vice President & General Manager of Corporate, Tech & IP for Bloomberg Law. "The collection of Domestic Privacy Profiles offers thorough, up-to-date information and expert analysis for privacy practitioners, allowing them to knowledgeably advise their clients on the nuances of states' laws and regulatory climates."

"Bloomberg Law's collection is perhaps the most comprehensive survey of state privacy laws that I've encountered," said Alfred J. Saikali, chair of the Privacy & Data Security Practice at Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP and contributor to the Florida profile. "You will learn of privacy laws you probably didn't even know existed. It is a 'must have' for any new or seasoned privacy practitioner."

"Bloomberg Law's Domestic Privacy Profile collection is an extremely thorough, well-put-together collection of the most important information that data privacy and security practitioners need to have at their fingertips," said Abraham J. Rein, co-chair of the Information Privacy & Security Practice Group at Post & Schell, P.C. and contributor to the Pennsylvania profile. "The patchwork character of privacy and cybersecurity law can make locating basic information about a specific state's rules crucial; and given the sometimes 'all-hands-on-deck' nature of privacy/security practice, it's important to be able to locate that information fast. Bloomberg Law's Domestic Privacy Profile collection makes that possible."

Bloomberg Law will be showcasing the Domestic Privacy Profile collection, along with other valuable content, practice tools and analytics, at the IAPP Global Privacy Summit, March 27-28, in Washington, D.C.  Stop by Booth 43 for a demo.
