Statement from the Polish National Foundation

WASHINGTON, Dec. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Poland's new Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki explained in an op-ed Washington Examiner published this week the liberal democratic intent of judicial reforms that have been broadly mischaracterized in Europe and the U.S. and for which the Polish government ? America's NATO ally ? has come under intense international criticism.  This op-ed is the first serious attempt by the head of that government to detail the reforms and the thinking behind them.

Morawiecki wrote, "We are convinced that the changes we are considering will not only contribute to rebuilding the confidence of our citizens in the judicial system, but also give investors certainty that any court disputes are resolved in a fair and timely manner. Poland's democracy is strong. With reforms to ensure that our citizens have access to impartial, prompt, efficient and incorruptible justice, it will become stronger."
