Loma Linda University Health and Lifepoint Rehabilitation announce joint venture partnership to build new inpatient rehabilitation facility

Loma Linda University Health and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, a business unit of Lifepoint Health, announced today that they have entered into a joint venture partnership to build and operate a new inpatient rehabilitation facility in Loma Linda.

For 30 years, Loma Linda University Medical Center East Campus has provided comprehensive rehabilitation services to patients with various conditions and injuries, with an ongoing focus on patient-centered care, advanced treatments, and innovative research. The new, free-standing, 80-bed facility will help to meet a growing community need for specialized rehabilitation services, nearly doubling the health system's capacity for inpatient rehabilitation care. Upon completion of this project, Loma Linda University Health will transition its existing inpatient rehabilitation units to the new rehabilitation facility.

"Today marks an important milestone in our commitment to providing exceptional care and support to our community," said Trevor Wright, CEO of Loma Linda University Health Hospitals. "Through our partnership with Lifepoint Rehabilitation, we're not only establishing a facility but also enhancing rehabilitation services to ensure every individual receives the specialized care they need."

The new rehabilitation facility will provide intensive nursing, physical, occupational and speech pathology services for adults recovering from conditions such as stroke, neurological disease, brain or spinal cord injury, and other debilitating illnesses or injuries. Through investment in leading-edge technology, adaptive units, multidisciplinary therapy gymnasiums and more, the partners will be able to provide highly specialized care that meets each patient's unique needs.

Upon completion, Lifepoint Rehabilitation will manage day-to-day operations, bringing its evidence-driven, personalized inpatient care model to the new facility.

"We are pleased to partner with Loma Linda University Health as we expand access to high-quality rehabilitation care in the Inland Empire," said Russ Bailey, president, Lifepoint Rehabilitation. "Loma Linda University Health's reputation for excellent patient outcomes and their legacy in providing specialized inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation care is the foundation we will build on together. We know they share our commitment to a patient-centered care model and that together we can meet the growing need for rehabilitation care in the San Bernardino and Riverside counties and advance our mission of making communities healthier."

Pending regulatory approvals, construction for the new inpatient rehabilitation facility is expected to begin in 2025. The facility is anticipated to open in 2027.

Upon completion, this facility will join a growing network of more than 40 inpatient rehabilitation facilities across the country operated by Lifepoint Rehabilitation.
