Media Advisory - Hamilton Hospital Workers Rally for Fair Pay and Quality Patient Care


HAMILTON, ON, April 17, 2024 /CNW/ - Health care professionals employed by Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) will hold concurrent information rallies today at all three hospital sites to draw attention to pay inequity. Staff at Hamilton General Hospital, Juravinski Hospital, and McMaster Children Hospital ? members of OPSEU/SEFPO Local 273 ? are being paid less than industry standards and other health care professionals in the region, and across the province.

The union has been in bargaining for nearly a year and is demanding wage parity with other hospital professionals who are covered by OPSEU/SEFPO's Central Hospitals Collective Agreement.

WHO: Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) workers; OPSEU/SEFPO Local 273, representing over 1100 members who work as therapists, technologists, technicians, perfusionists; respiratory therapists; behaviour therapists; rehabilitation therapists; advanced rehabilitation therapists; and other allied health professions; OPSEU/SEFPO Regional Vice President for Orillia, Parry Sound, Peterborough, Sara Labelle.

WHEN: April 17, 2024, 11 a.m. ? 2 p.m.

WHERE: Workers to hold sidewalk rallies outside the front entrances of Hamilton General Hospital, 237 Barton St E; Juravinski Hospital, 711 Concession St; and McMaster Children Hospital, 1200 Main St W.
