MEDIA ADVISORY - Long-Term Care Nurses and Health-care Professionals to Hold Pickets on Friday Across Ontario

TORONTO, April 11, 2024 /CNW/ - Ontario Nurses' Association members who work at long-term care homes will hold information pickets at 37 locations across the province on Friday. More than 3,000 nurses, personal support workers and guest attendants represented by ONA are heading to bargaining with their corporate employers next week ? companies that have reported record profits in recent years on the backs of staff and vulnerable residents.

ONA members holding the pickets will be distributing leaflets and picketing to pressure their corporate employers to put resident care ahead of their profits. Nurses and health-care professionals are fighting for staffing ratios to improve resident care, and equal wages with hospitals to retain experienced staff in the long-term care sector.

A complete list of locations and times for the pickets can be found here: www.ona.org/nh

ONA is the union representing more than 68,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
