Media Advisory - Israel's Ongoing War on Hospitals, Healthcare Workers and Humanitarian Aid workers in Gaza

Eyewitness Account of recently returning physicians from Gaza

TORONTO, April 3, 2024 /CNW/ - Nearly 6 months of relentless indiscriminate carpet bombing of Gaza  has killed more than 33,000 civilians including approximately 15,000 children.  On April 1, 2024 Al Shifa Hospital a specialized hospital complex was bombed by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and totally destroyed killing patients and staff and displaced civilians seeking shelter. The scale of destruction is unprecedented, and hundreds of bodies were strewn throughout the hospital and in the nearby streets.

Israeli Forces also killed 7 Foreign Aid workers with World Central Kitchen (WCK) The IDF attacked the clearly marked 3 car envoy killing all 7 humanitarian aid workers from WCK. These 3 serial attacks occurred despite co-ordinating food delivery with IDF.

WCK was one of the few organizations able to provide deliver meals to the starving people of Gaza. The famine has resulted from the Israeli blockade of thousands of food trucks preventing entry into Gaza. These attacks on foreign aid workers is in complete violation of international law. The use of food as a weapon by Israel is resulting in death by starvation of 1.5 million people mostly women and children and is barbaric and unacceptable in a civilized world.

The indiscriminate killing by bombing and sniper attacks on women and children also continue.  Children are now dying of starvation, and many are unable to walk or talk due to severe malnutrition. The lack of clean water has caused outbreaks of hepatitis. The systematic destruction of the healthcare infrastructure has made it impossible to provide any medical support to the children and people of Gaza. A massive death toll is expected if the famine is not immediately relieved.

Canadian physicians have been bravely serving in Gaza providing urgent medical relief and present their eyewitness accounts of the horrific deaths and destruction taking place daily in Gaza.
