On Saturday, March 16th, founder Russ Makofsky of The Gift of Chess will celebrate his birthday by embarking on a 10-mile walk across New York City to raise funds and awareness for the organization's mission.

Over the past two years, The Gift of Chess has donated 51,000 chess sets across Africa, reaching 25 countries with 1,000+ sets each. Their goal is to donate 1 million chess sets globally by 2030, with plans to distribute 41,000 sets in Panama to serve North, Central, South, and Latin America.
