/R E P E A T -- MEDIA ADVISORY - Telecommunications workers to rally to end outsourcing at Bell Canada/

KINGSTON, ON, Dec. 4, 2023 /CNW/ - Telecommunications workers from Bell Canada will converge in Kingston, Ontario, on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, rallying against Bell's sustained efforts in job erosion through practices such as offshoring and contracting out. The unified stand calls for full-time jobs, equitable wages and benefits that keep up with the pace of inflation.

Unifor members at Expertech (a subsidiary of Bell Canada), both the craft and clerical groups, are currently in collective bargaining, demanding better protection of good union jobs in the telecommunications sector. Their contract expired on November 30, 2023, and Bell Canada has not yet responded to any of the tabled monetary wage demands from these workers.

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, telecommunications workers were on the frontlines keeping our communities connected. Despite this, Bell Canada has downsized its workforce and outsourced more and more work. It's wrong ? and it's time for Bell to negotiate a fair deal for these workers," said Samia Hashi, Ontario Regional Director.
