TORONTO, Sept. 19, 2023 /CNW/ - Centennial College will hold an opening event (ribbon-cutting) for Canada's first LEED Gold, zero carbon, mass timber, higher-education building on September 21, 2023, alongside project partners.
A-Building, an approximately $112-million expansion, forms a new gateway to Centennial's Progress Campus highlighting the College's commitments to sustainability and reconciliation. Its design reflects Indigenous values and principles, based on the concept of 'two-eyed seeing' ? viewing the world through the dual lens of Indigenous knowledge and Western knowledge.
"Reconciliation and stewardship of the environment are central to the A-Building expansion at Centennial," said Dr. Craig Stephenson, President and CEO, Centennial College. "As the gateway to our Progress Campus, it's a beacon that articulates the importance of inclusivity, Indigeneity, and sustainability to the Centennial Community."
