Kathleen L. Carriger debuts her first book: "Missionary Mama"
A Story About a Native-Californian's Journey to Africa
YOLO COUNTY, Calif., April 3, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Years prior, Carriger was inspired by a book about Mother Teresa which eventually led her to join Wycliffe Bible Translators. The Lord led her on a mission that she never dreamed of and for half a decade she served as a teacher in Niger, Kenya, Tanzania, and Cameroon.
In "Missionary Mama: Tales of Africa and Wycliffe Bible Translators, 2001-2015," by Kathleen L. Carriger, readers are provided with an in-depth look at Carriger's transition from a California homebody to a missionary in Africa.

About the author
Kathleen L. Carriger received her bachelor's degree in English and earned her Elementary School Teaching Credential. Additionally, she holds her combined master's degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education and furthered her preparation by earning her Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certificates. Carriger was raised in a Christian family in the San Francisco Bay Area. She married her military husband at age twenty and they traveled through Europe together while stationed in Germany. She taught for a number of years before she took a break to raise their two sons and during that time her faith broadened. After reading a book about Mother Teresa she committed her future to mission work and thirteen years later she began preparing to become a missionary. During that time she taught elementary and international university students while preparing to move to Africa for five years. After her return she continued to work for the mission organization until her retirement. Carriger currently resides in Yolo County, Calif.
