Filipino Community of Women Entrepreneurs Leads Global Event for Women's Entrepreneurship Day (Nov. 19) and Addresses Impact of Pandemic on Filipino Diaspora

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- As Filipino American History Month draws to a close in October, Entrepinayship, a Fil-Am based global organization dedicated to economic empowerment and the promotion of entrepreneurship for Filipina women worldwide, is set to launch a first-of-its-kind international business and wellness summit.

Titled "Here for Substance: Elevating Conscious Leaders and Entrepreneurs in the Diaspora," the five-day summit is a business and wellness retreat taking place online Nov.17-21 during Global Entrepreneurship Week (Nov. 16-20). The virtual and immersive experience for entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and change makers aims to draw Filipinas worldwide to identify, create, and unlock new opportunities in an emerging economic reality for a diaspora of more than 10 million.

"Filipinos are disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, being one of the world's largest suppliers of workers including nurses, service providers, and maritime professionals," noted Anna Marie Cruz, Entrepinayship founder and chief elevate-her officer. "Entrepinayship exists to inspire and motivate entrepreneurs and leaders to take control of their destiny."

Cruz, a professional business advisor, first coined the phrase "Entrepinayship" in 2014, as a portmanteau of the words entrepreneurship and "Pinay" or Filipina woman, during her work with the Women's Business Center at Asian Pacific Islander Small Business Program (APISBP) and Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA). Since then, she has appeared in media and as a notable speaker at civic and business organizations, addressing "entrepinays" and access to funding and resources.

At this year's summit, virtual attendees will hear from an acclaimed group of Filipina keynote speakers, participate in master classes and panel discussions, and learn directly through small group sessions and live one-on-one networking. Entrepinayship will announce participating leaders in business, entrepreneurship, wellness, and personal development, promising an exciting lineup of experts who will move and inspire its global community.

"Because of her significant work with Entrepinayship, Anna Marie was recognized as "Pinay of the Year" during Filipino American History Month and received the 2020 Dawn Mabalon Empowerment Award by SIPA based in Historic Filipinotown," said attorney Dyan Miranda-Pastrana, Consul of the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles. "She is called the 'chief elevate-her officer' because she truly has elevated our community. In this time of uncertainty, people yearn for inspiration and invaluable information from role models and mentors."

Miranda-Pastrana is one of nine members of the Entrepinayship Advisory Council, comprised of Filipina business leaders. In addition to Miranda-Pastrana, advisors include chef Kristine de la Cruz, owner of Crème Caramel LA; designer Carol de Leon, owner of Angkan; writer/producer and media/PR executive Jessica del Mundo of 10storyhouse; Marylou Garcia, managing partner of iCFO Capital Beverly Hills; chef Ginger Lim-Dimapasok, owner of Café 86; media professional Christina Oriel, managing editor at Asian Journal; entrepreneur Kalika Yap of Orange & Bergamot, Citrus Studios, The Wax Co., and Luxe Link; and Jacqueline D. Yu, Esq. principal of the Law Offices of Jacqueline D. Yu. Along with Cruz, on the Entrepinayship executive team are Leslie Ann Siy, director of operations and special events, and Claire Van Holland, director of finance and accounting.
