Arthritis Research Canada is excited to welcome Macdonald Realty as the 2019 ARThritis Soirée, Presenting Sponsor. "We are proud to highlight the importance of arthritis research for the millions of Canadians who struggle with this disease," said Lynn Hsu, Macdonald Real Estate Group's president and CEO. "Arthritis is the leading cause of workplace disability and affects 1 in 6 Canadians. Research is needed to improve the lives of people living with this disease in Canada and around the world."

Macdonald Realty is a British Columbia owned and operated brokerage established almost 75 years ago. More than 1,000 real estate professionals and staff work out of the company's 20 offices across the province. "Based on statistics, over 150 of our people have or will be impacted by arthritis in their lifetimes," Hsu said. "Add in our staff and agents' families and almost everyone at Macdonald Realty will likely be affected by some form of this disease. Arthritis research is important to Macdonald Realty because it's important to all of us."

The real estate company looks forward to working with Arthritis Research Canada to continue increasing awareness about arthritis ? a disease that now affects 5.6 million Canadians of ALL ages and 350 million people worldwide. The need to support arthritis research has never been greater!

"Arthritis causes much more than aches and pains," said Dr. John Esdaile, Arthritis Research Canada's scientific director. "An arthritis diagnosis changes a person's life. Sometimes they have to stop working, daily tasks may become difficult or impossible, and the disease can result in life-threatening complications. Over the past 18 years, Arthritis Research Canada has made huge advances through research that really make a difference to people with arthritis."
