Eating Recovery Center, Ohio Expands Service Line Offerings to Include Mood, Anxiety and Trauma-Related Program

CINCINNATI, Oct. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Eating Recovery Center (ERC) announces today the expansion of its Mood, Anxiety and Trauma-Related (MATR) program to its center at Eating Recovery Center, Ohio (ERC Ohio) in Cincinnati. This program, part of ERC's subsidiary Insight Behavioral Health Centers, reflects the growing need to not only successfully address mood, anxiety and trauma co-morbidities for eating disorder patients, but to also provide this treatment on a stand-alone basis.

The MATR program will be available to adults and adolescents 16 years of age and older. In addition to providing best-in-class care for mood, anxiety and trauma-related disorders, the program screens and assesses for eating disorder symptomology and addresses both disorders concurrently. It also screens for substance use disorders/concerns and offers programming around compulsive behaviors and addiction as a secondary disorder.

The expansion of the MATR program at ERC Ohio comes at a time when more patients are being admitted for trauma-related disorders, as nearly 75 percent of ERC patients have a history of an event or complex trauma.

"By expanding the MATR program to ERC Ohio, we are addressing and responding to the growing need to provide best-in-class care to those suffering from co-occurring or stand-alone mental health conditions, helping these patients build a life unconstrained by mood and anxiety challenges," says Ashley Solomon, PsyD, CEDS, Regional Managing Director at Eating Recovery Center, Ohio. "We do this by incorporating a diverse array of brain-based, body-based and emotion-based interventions that have been proven effective in helping people live healthy, productive lives."

The MATR program is designed to address Depressive Disorders (including Major Depressive Disorder); Anxiety Disorders; Bipolar Disorder; Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder; Trauma (including childhood and adult sexual, physical and emotional abuse); Attachment Disorders; Personality Disorders; Self-Injury; Co-Occurring Substance Abuse and Mood and Anxiety Disorders; Co-Occurring Eating Disorders and Mood and Anxiety Disorders; Adjustment Disorder (due to recent changes, transitions or losses); Grief and Complicated Grief.

MATR works closely with a patient's therapist and psychiatrist (in the community) to ensure continuity of care. It uses an integrated treatment approach that focuses on behavior change modalities from evidence-based treatments, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention, Behavioral Activation, and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. It also supports these treatments with a strong influence from mindfulness based and trauma informed practices.

The program offers two levels of care: Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) will consist of comprehensive support services with three hours of programming per day, three to six days a week. The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) will provide similar services at eight hours during the week and six hours on the weekend, seven days a week. For both IOP and PHP, patients are medically and nutritionally supported, but specifics about each include:
