BALANCE Receives HUD Counseling And Education Grant For $767,514

CONCORD, Calif., Oct. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- BALANCE, a national homeownership and financial counseling agency, received a sizeable grant from The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in the amount of $767,514. The nonprofit was also recently recognized by HUD for having all of its housing counselors achieve HUD Housing counselor certification in advance of the 2020 deadline.

BALANCE joins a group of 31 national and regional intermediaries to be funded by HUD in Fiscal Year 18. The funds support access to expert counseling for consumers who are navigating the homebuyer process, need mortgage guidance, require reverse mortgage education and more.

BALANCE's CEO, Kathryn Davis described the agency's reaction to the grant. "We're honored and thrilled to receive HUD funding again. It will play a critical role in our mission to empower Americans seeking to achieve or maintain homeownership, especially at a time when so many are struggling to afford housing."

As a National Intermediary and HUD-approved housing counseling agency, BALANCE plans to use its robust suite of services to provide assistance to consumers and its non-profit affiliates serving diverse communities. This includes one-on-one housing counseling and classroom education, as well as coaching via phone, webinars and online learning platforms.
