Author Joanna Breyer counsels parents on what to do and how to cope "When Your Child is Sick" at National Press Club Headliners Event, November 13


WASHINGTON, Oct. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Author and psychosocial counselor Joanna Breyer used her decades of experience working with sick children and their families to create the comprehensive field guide we all hope we will never need: "When Your Child is Sick: A Guide to Navigating the Practical and Emotional Challenges of Caring for a Child Who is Very Ill." Breyer will lead an intimate conversation on how parents can take back some control and cope with the impossible at a National Press Club Headliners Book Event on Tuesday, November 13.

This event will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Club's Lisagor Conference Room, and will feature a discussion with the author, an audience question-and-answer session, and a book signing. Tickets are $5 for National Press Club members and $10 for the general public. Books will also be available for purchase at the event. Proceeds from book sales will benefit the non-profit affiliate of the Club, the National Press Club Journalism Institute, so we kindly ask that you leave all outside books and memorabilia at home.

About the Author:
Joanna Breyer was educated at Oxford and Harvard where she got her psychology doctoral degree in 1983. As a psychologist she worked with children with cancer and their families for over 25 years at Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and Children's Hospital Boston. She worked in the David B. Perini Quality of Life Clinic for Survivors of Childhood Cancer for over 10 years. She is married to Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer.
