LONG BEACH, Calif., Oct. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- M. Grisafe Architects, a commercial and residential architecture firm in the city of Long Beach, California, announced recently that one of their commercial design projects, a surgical and rehabilitation center in Long Beach, has been completed.
The building that houses the facility was originally constructed in 1964, but had seen at least one major remodel since that time, and had been unoccupied for a period of time. Since a significant amount of the building's components needed to be replaced, the clients used it as an opportunity to completely reimagine the space.
Form Follows Function in the Facility's Design
The facility, which is owned by two Long Beach doctors, is designed to help patients with pain management, but to do it in a customized fashion, rather than with a one-size-fits-all approach. Therefore, the architects at M. Grisafe Architects wanted to design a different kind of medical facility. The completed facility has the feel of a spa, with some rustic elements incorporated. It features two state-of-the-art operating rooms as well as a physical therapy room. The overall design complements the doctors' holistic approach to pain management.
Mark Grisafe, owner of M. Grisafe Architects, had this to say about the project, "From the first time I met with the doctors, I knew this was a project I wanted to be a part of. They take a unique approach to pain management that doesn't rely heavily on the use of medication to manage pain. They incorporate physical therapy, psychiatry, and if needed, surgery and medication to help their patients reclaim their lives from debilitating pain. As an architecture firm that is deeply committed to improving our local community, we are happy to see a surgical and rehabilitation center like this one set up shop in the City of Long Beach."
Local Interior Designer and Landscape Architect Help with Finishing Details
M. Grisafe Architects was assisted in the interior design aspect of the project by Denise Foley Design, who selected the soothing colors and natural materials that helped bring the spa-like feel to the facility. Outside, the landscape design was done by Graham Stanley, a local landscape architect who brought the simplicity of the interior to the exterior, while also reducing water usage by incorporating drought-tolerant plants.
