Media Advisory - Taking citizenship to new heights: Unique ceremony to be held at the Montréal Tower
MONTRÉAL, Oct. 12, 2018 /CNW/ - On Friday, October 12, 24 candidates will take the Oath of Citizenship to new heights during a special Citizenship Week ceremony at the Montréal Tower.
These newest Canadians will be joined by Eva Nassif, Member of Parliament for Vimy, who will attend on behalf of the Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship and who will present them with their citizenship certificates 165 metres above the city, in this iconic symbol of Montréal and Canada.
With its 45 degree angle, the Montréal Tower is the tallest inclined tower in the world and a fitting venue to host the last of three ceremonies held at elevated Canadian landmarks during Citizenship Week. The two previous elevated ceremonies were held at the CN Tower on October 9 and the Vancouver Lookout on October 11.
All week, Canadians are encouraged to share what it means to be Canadian and share a pic of their favourite Canadian place on social media using #CitizenshipWeek.
October is also Women's History Month, and Citizenship Week is an opportunity to reflect upon the Canadian women who have shaped this country. Many ceremonies from coast to coast will feature prominent women who have made an impact, including civic leaders, scientists, athletes and more.
