Cancer patient creates unique clothing line to support Princess Margaret Cancer Centre patients

New TOUGH S.O.B. line keeps cancer patients and their families in the fight

TORONTO, Sept. 25, 2018 /CNW/ - Toronto-based charity Hats on Heads announced its TOUGH S.O.B. initiative today and its partnership with Princess Margaret Cancer Centre that will give the institution's cancer patients free branded toques. The clothing is made from a bamboo-based material that provides comfort during cancer treatment. More importantly, the logo on the items tells their cancer-fighting wearers that they are Tough S.O.B.s every time they look in the mirror.

"TOUGH S.O.B. clothing reminds the wearer that he or she can face cancer with courage and dignity. A positive outlook is an important part of the battle," says Andrew Taylor, the founder of the charity and a patient at the hospital. "Our empowering TOUGH S.O.B. toques are soft and lightweight. They can be comfortably worn indoors, and are breathable and very cool. But most importantly, they empower anyone wearing them to stay strong."

Cleverly, the logo on the toques appears to be reversed. Only the wearer can see the message printed correctly when looking at his or her reflection. It's a private reminder for cancer patients and their family members that they are TOUGH S.O.B.s.

"Partnering with this charity gives Princess Margaret Cancer Centre a unique opportunity to make sure that our patients have a constant reminder of the strength they possess within themselves to fight cancer," said Laurie Tucker, Coordinator of Patient Programs at the hospital.

For every toque and t-shirt purchased at www.toughsob.org, the charity donates a toque to the hospital. Website visitors can also make a donation in someone's honor. Dubbed "A Gift of Strength", the charity will send a personalized ecard to honorees, informing them that a donation will provide free TOUGH S.O.B. toques to cancer patients on their behalf.

The TOUGH S.O.B. initiative has already raised enough funds to give more than 1,000 toques to patients at the Princess Margaret Cancer Center.
