Winkball Commissioned Survey Reveals That 1 in 3 UK Workers Regret Their Career Choice

LONDON, Sept. 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Survey* commissioned by WinkBall has announced that a third of UK workers regret their choice of career, with a further one in four people (29%) claiming to still be in the wrong job today.

The dissatisfaction people feel regarding their jobs is arguably, a motivator in encouraging more than half of individuals (53%) to take up a hobby that could provide some extra cash. In fact, UK workers are spending an average of around 5 hours a week on these hobbies that have potential to bring in a second form of income.

This seems to be a trend particularly among the younger generation, who are more likely to dedicate their spare time to a passion that generates income. The new research by media company Winkball revealed just 6% of people currently love what they are doing for work, with over half (58%) admitting they wish they had started a career in something they were more passionate about.

A second job in the media industry seems to be the most secondary career ? around a quarter (26%) of people would like to work as a blogger or reporter of some kind.

Top 3 Most Desirable Secondary Careers:

  1. Writer
  2. Blogger
  3. Consultant

Psychotherapist and broadcaster Anjula Mutanda commented on the findings, "In today's world it's quite common to find that people are dissatisfied in their careers and keen to find an additional outlet that really captures their interests. However, because of the financial pressures associated with modern life people often stay in jobs that they don't really like very much because they feel they have to. This is one reason why having a side-hustle can be so beneficial. It means that you can invest some of your time and energy into something you really love."
