A Rock'n'Roll Saturday at the 2018 Oasis International Marathon de Montréal - More than 7,700 registered participants come out for the 5 km and 10 km races and the P'tit marathon 1 km Tel-jeunes

Gregory Charles and Friends will ensure the first race day ends on the right note

MONTREAL, Sept, 22, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - The first races of the 2018 Oasis International Marathon de Montréal race week-end got underway today, starting with the 5 km (sponsored by Sports Experts) and 10 km events. More than 7,000 registered participants enthusiastically gave it their all in a festive atmosphere to cross the finish line in Quartier des spectacles.

The P'tit marathon 1 km Tel-jeunes, an event that raises funds for the youth help line, also welcomed some 710 children and teenagers with their parents.

In addition to the activities and entertainment happening at Place des Festivals, headliner Gregory Charles and Friends will give a frenzied 2 hour and 1-minute uninterrupted performance in a nod to the world marathon record set by Kenyan runner Eliud Kipchoge (2 hours, 1 minute, 39 seconds) in Berlin this past September 16. This free concert will be open to the general public and presented on the Oasis stage at Place des festivals.

What's happening on Sunday, September 23?
The weekend's keynote event, the 42.2-kilometre marathon, as well as the 21.1-kilometre half-marathon, will take place tomorrow, Sunday, September 23, starting at 7:30 a.m. Supporters, family and friends are encouraged to come out and cheer the runners along the entire new race course and converge at Place des festivals for a concert given by LADY'5 which will close the event.
