Virtual Events Experiencing Significant Growth as a Quiet But Critical Events Industry Trend According to New Tagoras Report

CARRBORO, N.C., Sept. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A new report released by Tagoras, a consulting firm specializing in the global market for lifelong learning, provides insights into the growing popularity of virtual, online versions of conferences, tradeshows, and other traditionally place-based events.

The 60-page Virtual Events Report, which is available for download at no charge on the Tagoras Web site, draws on data from a recent non-statistical survey to which 215 organizations provided qualified responses. It continues the work of three previous reports ? the first issued in 2010 ? in which Tagoras has tracked the use of virtual events.

Of the qualifying responses, 43.7 percent indicate their organization has previously offered a virtual event ? a significant increase over the 19.0 percent that indicated offering a virtual event in the 2010 report. Another 24.7 percent indicate they plan to offer a virtual event in the coming 12 months, suggesting that virtual events will soon be embraced by a majority of organizations that offer events.

"Virtual events have not generated a lot of buzz, but there's little doubt at this point that they have become an important part of the events industry landscape," said Tagoras managing director Celisa Steele, "They are clearly filling a need in the market and, according to our research, satisfaction with the results they can achieve is strong."

Tristan Jordan, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Careers & Education at Community Brands, the sponsor of the report, highlighted how virtual events can play a key role in serving lifelong learners. "Learners want to see diverse learning opportunities that better fit their needs and lifestyle," said Jordan, "Virtual events play an important role in bridging the gap between powerful and valuable live experiences and self-serve online convenience."

The Tagoras report provides data on many aspects of virtual events, from the most common approaches used, to major technologies, to the results organizations are getting with registration and attendance. The report also offers a portrait of what characterizes organizations reporting the most success with their virtual events.
