PARAMARIBO, Suriname, Sept. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Suriname today announced the successful execution of the first ever Trade & Investment Forum held in Miami, which was a great venue for the dialogue as the city is the gateway to the Americas and the Caribbean. The event, supported by the Ministry of Finance and organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Suriname, led by the Consul General Marsha Renfurm, successfully presented the many investment and trade opportunities available to a room full of important attendees, and counted with the participation of the Honorable Regillio Dodson, Minister of Natural Resources, Dr. Bernhard Fritz-Krockow, Chief Economic Advisor, and Mr. Ike Antonius, CEO of Investsur.

The Honorable Gillmore Hoefdraad Minister of Finance explained the investment landscape and highlighted key areas that are available for development, including extractive industries, agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure. Given Suriname's abundant and diverse natural resources as well as the country's educated workforce, delegates showcased the capacities available for development and discussed the benefits of investing in Suriname to an interested audience.

"We are committed to fostering a diverse economy in order to provide economic stability, and this Forum is a significant step towards accomplishing our mission to attract more foreign investment and expand trade opportunities for Suriname," said Minister Hoefdraad. "We are gratified by the high level interested shown in Miami today, and look forward to a trade mission to Suriname in 2019."

The event was very well attended and also included important members of the Miami-Dade community including the Miami-Dade Beacon Council, the City of Miami and the Miami-Dade Economic Development & International Trade division. The audience showed great interest in learning more about Suriname and its opportunities as interested investors scheduled meetings to learn more about investing.
