Fort Lauderdale Country Club Announces $3.7M North Course Renovation

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Fort Lauderdale Country Club announced on Friday, September 21, 2018 that its membership has approved a $3.7 million renovation of its North Course.

The project is scheduled to begin on April 1, 2019, with an anticipated completion date of November 30, 2019.

This renovation comes at a time when other local private golf and country clubs are closing their doors. "Reinvestment into a club's infrastructure is vital to the success of not only that club, but of the golf industry as a whole," said FLCC General Manager Michael O'Brien.

Fort Lauderdale Country Club has contracted with Kipp Schulties of KS Designs, LLC to head up the renovation.

The result will be "a distinctly different golf course," according to Schulties. The scope of work approved, and fully funded by the membership, not only includes the replacement and expansion of the greens, but also goes further with replacement and/or relocation of all bunkers, and providing tees between 4,500yds and 7,200yds, making the course more enjoyable for both men and women of all abilities.

This sentiment was echoed by O'Brien in a message to the Club membership, in which he states that this new course design will be just one more thing to add to the extensive list of advantages that sets Fort Lauderdale Country Club apart from the competition.

"The [North Course] greens were due for replacement," says Golf Course Superintendent Todd Ingram. "However, this project not only addresses the age of the greens, but creates an exciting new course that I know our members will enjoy."

Overall, the response to the renovation of the North Course has been positive. "During the project, we anticipate a very conservative membership growth rate; once the North Course is complete, however, we fully expect that rate to increase rapidly," says Membership Director Valerie Roca. Fort Lauderdale Country Club has put together some attractive incentives for potential new members to join before the completion of the new course.

"We couldn't be more thrilled with this project approval, and are excited to further our reputation for being the premier golf club of Broward County," says Club President Lee Patterson.
