Let Science Speak Premieres On The Big Screen During The Tribeca TV® Festival

NEW YORK, Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The timely short documentary series Let Science Speak is set to premiere on September 20th during the Tribeca TV Festival and will then immediately be available on YouTube and at www.letsciencespeak.comLet Science Speak leverages intimate storytelling to go beyond the "War on Science" headlines and humanize scientists, showing how their work is connected to the personal values that most Americans can relate to, including innovation, faith, family and civic duty.  This six-part series of short films is a direct response to escalating efforts to suppress environmental science and silence scientists. The premiere coincides with the first anniversary of Hurricane Maria's devastating landfall on Puerto Rico ? highlighting what is at risk for our health, our homes and our planet when science is under attack.

The series features a stunning, original score by composer, and Fall Out Boy front man, Patrick Stump (Pacific Rim, Big Hero 6).  "When I was a little kid, if you had asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I would always say "Scientist," without hesitation," says Stump. "So to use my music to help tell the stories of these people who are essentially my heroes is very cool."

Let Science Speak will inform and engage viewers about the importance of science in our ever-evolving world. Each episode features a scientist and their field.  Scientists included in the episodes are:

Additional episodes feature Dr. Johnathan Foley of the California Academy of Sciences (Episode 1), Dr. Jacqueline Gill of the University of Maine (Episode 2) and Dr. Alan Townsend, Provost of Colorado College (Episode 6).

"Chipping away at America's solid scientific foundation means we risk losing much of what we hold dear," says Dr. Townsend. "Let Science Speak is a window into the fundamental humanity of science - and why we all should care about its future."

"It's not just scientists who lose when science is suppressed. The health, safety and security of every citizen is also at risk," says series creator and executive producer Christine Arena. "That is why we aim to call America's attention to the stakes, while portraying scientists as unsung heroes that people will want to support and rally around."

"Defending science is the most critical issue of our time, as without science, other issues become obsolete," says co-director Adam Warmington. "We feel very lucky to be able to leverage our skills as documentary storytellers to help move the needle."

The series was funded in part by The Elizabeth R. & William J. Patterson Foundation, S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation, Margaret and Will Hearst, Troy and Leslie Daniels, The Outrider Foundation, The Caldera Foundation, Buckhill Capital and others.
