FISHERS, Ind., Sept. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The 11-acre, Headless Horseman-designed corn maze opens this Saturday, Sept. 22 at Conner Prairie. Returning for a second year, the corn maze covers 479,000 square feet ? 179,000 square feet larger than last year. The 2017 corn maze was named one of the "most insane corn mazes" in the country by Reader's Digest.

Conner Prairie, located in Fishers Indiana, recently revealed the design of this year's corn maze. Returning for the second year, the 11-acre themed Headless Horseman-designed maze opens on Saturday, Sept. 22. Visitors can explore three different mazes including the newest maze edition,

Visitors can explore three different mazes ? a shorter maze designed to take 30 minutes to navigate, a longer maze that takes an hour to complete, and new this year, "Headless Hallow" haunted corn maze. "Headless Hallow" is recommended for ages 11+ and only open at sundown on Headless Horseman nights.

"The corn maze at Conner Prairie is back and bigger than ever before," said Richard Cooper, vice president and chief programs officer at Conner Prairie. "With the three open mazes, every member of the family, no matter how young or old, can enjoy this fall activity."

The corn maze - designed by Precision Mazes of Lee's Summit, Missouri - is open during regular museum hours from Sept. 22 to Oct. 28 and paid museum guests and members can pay an activity fee to enter the maze. The activity fee is $5 per guest and $4 per member. Youth under two years old are free.

The corn maze is also open during Headless Horseman, Conner Prairie's annual Halloween festival that runs from Oct. 11 to 28. Gates open for Headless Horseman at 6 p.m. and close at 9 p.m. Activities and hayrides may run until 10 p.m. or later.

"They might call it the 'Legend of Sleepy Hollow,' but it's a fact that I'll spook those who enter my 'Headless Hallow' haunted corn maze this fall," said the Headless Horseman. "Not on my watch," said Ichabod Crane.

In August, U.S. News & World Report included Hamilton County's Conner Prairie as one of 30 destinations with beautiful fall leaves. Visitors can view the fall foliage and an aerial view of the corn maze via the 1859 Balloon Voyage which is open during regular hours and Headless Horseman for an additional fee. Balloon voyages are weather dependent.
