Better Dwelling in Nature, on our Planet and in the Universe

Espace pour la vie presents three Great Debates
featuring experts with different experiences and viewpoints

MONTRÉAL, Sept. 19, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - This fall, Espace pour la vie is hosting three Great Debates as part of its Human and Nature Encounters. The goal is to reflect on our connection with the living world and how we can make concrete changes in the way we dwell in nature, on our planet and in the Universe. What is our connection with nature? How can we improve our relations with the world around us? What solutions should we consider and apply?

These intimate encounters (85 spots for each), in French, will be held beneath the dome of the Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan and moderated by Mickaël Carlier, founding President of Novae. Each evening will feature discussions with such experts as Serge Bouchard, Laure Waridel, Thierry Lefèvre, Nathalie Cabrol and Marie-Hélène Parizeau. Tickets are already on sale at espacepourlavie.ca.

"The Human and Nature Encounters program fits perfectly with our mission, which is not only to bring humankind closer to nature, but also to examine people's concerns about their environment. The three Great Debates this fall will let people better understand the issues involved in humankind's relationship with nature from a variety of perspectives and imagine possible solutions. These unique encounters are rare opportunities for discussing subjects that affect us all," explains Charles-Mathieu Brunelle, Director of Espace pour la vie.

Three Great Debates to mark on your calendar this fall

Tuesday, October 16 ? Mieux habiter la nature
With Serge Bouchard
What is our relationship with nature? How does it influence the way we dwell on our planet and the way we live? What sources of inspiration can we find in other cultures and other philosophies, to help us better dwell in our living world? Serge Bouchard, anthropologist and host of the C'est fou program on Ici Radio-Canada Première, will share his thoughts with us.

Tuesday, November 27 ? Mieux habiter la planète
With Laure Waridel and Thierry Lefèvre
More and more of us are sharing a planet with increasingly limited resources. How can we make the individual and collective changes our Earth so desperately needs and reinvent the way we dwell together on our planet? Eco-sociologist Laure Waridel and physicist and author Thierry Lefèvre have some solutions to suggest.

Tuesday, December 11 ? Mieux habiter l'Univers
With Nathalie Cabrol and Marie-Hélène Parizeau
It won't be long before we discover life elsewhere in the Universe ? a possibility that is raising tremendous interest and many questions. Who else is out there? What is driving this quest? Astrobiologist Nathalie Cabrol, a member of Mission Mars 2020, and Marie-Hélène Parizeau, President of UNESCO's World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology, will focus on these issues in their conversation.

7:30 p.m. | Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan | Length: 90 minutes | 85 spots per debate | In French
