Columbia Gas/Merrimack Valley Update -- Noon, Sept. 17

LAWRENCE, Mass., Sept. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Columbia Gas and its partners are actively working today to restore service to customers impacted by the Sept. 13 incident.

More than 600 technicians are currently turning on gas service for customers who were evacuated from the area but whose gas service was not directly impacted by the incident. The process involves visiting each customer (inside the home) to perform a safety inspection and relight appliances. Our technicians are fanning out to restore service as quickly, efficiently and safely as possible. We will leave a tag on your door with contact information if you're not home when we visit.

If you have not notified us that you need your service restored, please call 1-866-388-3239. We will send a technician out to assist you as soon as possible. You will see our crews in your neighborhood today performing service checks and restoring service. We will be turning on your meter. Once we do that, we will need to access your home to relight your appliances. We will go street by street to restore service for customers. We will continue work in the neighborhoods until all customers' gas is restored.

DO NOT attempt to turn on your gas service on your own.
