Local Business Donates Backpacks to Five TDSB Schools

Immigrant Son Shares Student Supplies

TORONTO, Aug. 21, 2018 /CNW/ - A local business owner is sharing his success with schools by donating backpacks stuffed with supplies for students in need, just in time for the new school year. John Vuong, owner of Local SEO Search, Inc., is the proud son of Vietnamese parents who came to Canada as refugees in 1980. A total of 200 backpacks will be donated to five Toronto schools loaded with necessary supplies for students to start their year. Vuong started this program last year and has doubled his donation, giving 80 backpacks to two schools the previous year.

"I understand what it's like to be a part of a new immigrant family in Canada," says Vuong, who is the proud father of a two-year-old son. "I know school supplies can be expensive. I want  immigrant children to have the supplies they need so that they can have the same opportunities for success as other children."

The 2018 backpack recipients will be Crescent Town Elementary School in East York, Queen Alexandra Middle School on Toronto's east side, Dundas Junior Public School in South Riverdale, Lord Dufferin Junior and Senior Public School in Regent Park and George Webster Elementary School in Woodbine Gardens. The Local SEO Search team spent thousands in Vuong's personal funds on school supplies from local retailers, and also received monetary and product donations from some of their most loyal clients who jumped at the opportunity to give back.

"We loved being able to give back to the community last year," says Vuong. "It meant so much that we've been able to expand our program from last year and make an impact in the lives of more children. We hope that next year we can help even more children."

School principals are excited to receive the backpacks next week and distribute them to students who can most benefit most from the generous donation.
